  • Although Corporate members are entitled to a maximum of 1 effective vote, any number of their employees may attend the Annual General Meeting providing that their presence does not hinder proceedings.
  • A member is defined as a fully paid up member for 2015.

  • For a nomination to be valid, the completed and signed nomination form together with all the required information must be received by itSMFsa via email, by close of business on 30 November 2015. Please note that Nominations will only be considered as received once confirmation has been sent to the originator.
  • Nominations will not be accepted if the nominee is of the same organisation as any current board member; however if a current board member has resigned, then nominations from the same company will be accepted.
  • A fully paid-up member unable to attend the meeting may appoint a proxy to attend and vote on their behalf. A Proxy Form may be downloaded from www.itsmf.org.za. The past year was an exceptionally good year for itSMF in South Africa. We started the year with new Directors bringing fresh ideas and enthusiasm to the table. This resulted in a very successful SMEXA 2013 “taking the next step” with new sponsors on board and over 200 delegates from 80 top companies. We enjoyed wonderful presentations and laughs covering a range of topics related to the conference theme and left feeling inspired and excited with a healthy dose of expectation and anticipation for SMEXA 2014.

itSMFsa has cut its teeth and has entered the ITSM conference market with a resounding “Bang”. The SMEXA team did a lot of hard work and planning, ably lead by Dezi Wallace, a very capable, tireless and tenacious driver…

Pieter Roos and his helpers put together 6 Johannesburg events and one in Cape Town. We again thank the companies who sponsored the presentations and events, they did themselves proud. Topics varied from an ISO20000 certification journey by Telkom Business through Kepner-Tregoe at Dimension Data. The feedback was marvellous, highlighting the enormous value gained by the large number of attendees. A special shout out to Pieter and the teams involved.

2013 revolutionised our Back-Office management and support, from where the day to day running of itSMFsa, improving the website, communications to our members, co-ordinating activities and book sales are all managed.

Thank you largely to David and Peter and Caroline in Cape Town for their tireless efforts and dedication. We also introduced a code of conduct for directors, which was accepted and signed by all with non-disclosure agreements signed by 3rdParty providers.



The AGM in November saw the appointment of 3 new directors – Graham Herbert (Foster-Melliar), Petronella Maseleme (Microsoft) and Mayembe Mtonga (Bytes).

SMEXA 2014

Planning for SMEXA 2014 is well advanced with the theme “Enabling Change: what is critical to succeed?”. Dezi Wallace already has several sponsors lined up and some exciting high profile speakers on the cards, including an international Key Note speaker.

We will again have the dual tracks incorporating the technical side. We have listened to your inputs and have changed where needed, but maintained the winning formula. Monthly Events

Pieter is again already busy with the events and has lined up a cracker joint event with ISACA, which is being hosted by Morvest, for February. Plans are for a further 7 events in Johannesburg, 3 in Cape Town and one each in Durban and the Eastern Cape.

SMEXA 2014 Call for White Papers

Local and Global Industry is buzzing and ground is being broken, now is the time to start thinking about and compiling white papers for the annual International White Paper competition which comes up later in the year.

Rules may differ slightly from last year but broadly your submissions for local adjudication should comply with what’s listed on the website under “white papers – competition”.

Take a look and get busy writing. If you have any white papers you wish to share on the website, please send to Peter Brooks via his contact details on the website and we’ll add them.

AXELOS and itSMF International have reached an agreement which will lead to the two organizations working closely together in the development and improvement of Service Management products, services and practices.

The memorandum of understanding (MoU) announced today sets out a framework of how AXELOS and the itSMF will cooperate in multiple countries worldwide.

The agreement includes a commitment by the two parties to collaborate on the development of new products and promote each other's activities and services via appropriate media such as websites, conferences and seminars.

Peter Hepworth, AXELOS CEO, says 'Since the formation of AXELOS in July we have illustrated our commitment to listen to and work with practitioner communities across
the world.

'As the only truly independent and internationally-recognized forum for IT Service Management professionals worldwide, the itSMF is one of our key stakeholders and we value the opinions and knowledge of their members. Today's announcement is an important milestone in the development of our business and the future of ITIL®.'

The itSMF is a not-for-profit organization and has more than 6000 member companies spread over 50 Chapters.

It is a prominent player in the on-going development and promotion of IT Service Management best practice, standards and qualifications. Members have access to a
network of industry experts, information sources and events to help address IT Service Management issues.

Colin Rudd, itSMF International Facilitator, says 'In my discussions with Peter and the management team at AXELOS I have gained a real sense of the passion they have for IT Service Management and a determination to take ITIL to a truly global audience. On 1 July 2013 'AXELOS' was announced as the new Joint Venture company that the Cabinet Office has formed to deliver and commercialize the UK Government's portfolio of Best Management Practice accreditation and publishing services, including ITIL, PRINCE2® and the other PPM products.

AXELOS now owns the intellectual property of the whole Best Management Practice portfolio and will build on the current business activities and developing products in new areas. The organization also has an ambitious programme of investment and growth, and primary focus will now be on stimulating the growth of a vibrant, open international ecosystem of training, consultancy and examination organizations.
